Scottish Irish Festival Highlights Aug 26-28 in Hamilton
MT
This was
the 2nd annual festival held at the Marcus Daly
Mansion Grounds, just outside of Hamilton MT. The Edmonton
pipe & drum band rolled in with their charter bus. A pair of
Clydesdales and Scottish coo's were anxious to unload and meet all
the kids. A vast array of burly dudes in kilts were toting
caber poles in, young ladies in tartan socks and others in Irish
hard shoes were getting their hair do's pinned up. Clear
signs it was going to be something special as a 1 mile line of
cars snaked their way in. >60 High Quality vendors
were selling fantastic celtic wares & came from as far away as
Texas and California. The pasties, haggis and local brews were
wonderful. Flathead cherries were in season at only $1.99/lb. I'm told the mead
and whiskey selections were wonderful too. I hobbled around
as best I could with 2 broken toes to bring back these highlights
for you. Nat'l Champ Eric Wechter was even there competing
in the heavy athletics. With 6,000
attendee's going thru the gates in 2011, we hope we can get even
more cars to join us in the 2012 caravan as we all plan to go back
next year.
