For advanced
musicians, there's an Irish Session at
Paddy Coyne's
on Sundays from 6-9pm in Seattle (just south of the Lake Union
Wooden Boats ). A Co Clare native, Leo MacNamara, is employed by the house to
maintain an authentic Irish seisiun that's full of energy &
high calibre. If you're
not quite up to this skill level, just sit back and enjoy the unique ornamentation & vast
array of tunes while you have a bite to eat. Paddy Coyne's
corned beef is excellent & the club sandwich is stacked mile
high with flavor.
There's much that can be learned from this array of musicians including Dale
Russ & Tom Creegan, and you won't find better Irish music in
town. Another musician at this session is fiddler Aurora Burd.
She placed 1st at the spring Fleadh in Detroit,
qualifying her for the Fleadh competition in Tullamore Ireland
in August 2009 where she took 2nd place - whipping up on the
paddies. |
